Travelling The World on a Budget

If you want to travel, don't let money hold you back. There are ways you can get out there and see the world without tonnes in the bank, and so if you can- just make it work. You can always earn more money, but you'll never be able to gain the missed experiences if you choose to let it stand in your way. Here are some of the ways you can travel the world on a budget.

WORK WHILE YOU TRAVEL
If you're able to find a job working in a part of the world you've always wanted to see, this will allow you to fund your trip while you're there. Alternatively there are programmes that offer food and acommodation for people doing voluntary work- so this is another option. While there will be work involved instead of it all being play, it still means you can get out there and see a place you've always dreamed of. Working in another country is a fantastic experience, looks great on your CV and is a way to experience life abroad in a way like no other.

GO BACKPACKING
Backpacking is a great way to see the world when you don't have a massive amount of money to spend. Food, accommodation and travel will all be cheap when you're travelling in this way. As long as you have your basic kit- backpack, sleeping bag, tent and supplies everything else can be done on very little money. An incredible, humble way to see the world and will give you memories that will last a lifetime.

GO ON A ROAD TRIP IN AN RV
You have the cost of hiring the RV and fuel, but once you have that you're pretty much set. That's both your transport and and somewhere to sleep sorted. You can make stops at supermarkets for supplies to each cheaply rather than the cost of dining out. And providing you're in a safe and legal spot, you can basically camp for free wherever you want. Lots of campsites offer inexpensive RV hookups which give you electricity, plumbing, water and in some cases added extras like wifi. So you could visit places like this once in a while too without spending much.

FREELANCE
The great thing about freelancing is you can do it from anywhere. If you have a skill that can be monetised, put it to some good use while you're on your trip! Whether it's writing, blogging, design or something else- all you'll need is a computer and you can make some cash as you go. There are so many free wifi hotspots dotted around these days it's easy to make it work, or invest in a 3g or 4g wireless dongle for instant internet on the road.

Have you ever travelled the world on budget? How did you make it work?
